Katsusei | Plaza Indonesia, Jakarta, Indonesia
August 02, 2019After roaming around in Plaza Indonesia Mall, we decided to dine in Katsusei. It was very quiet when we came in with only another table with a couple dining there. Katsusei has another branch in Plaza Senayan by the way. The prices are quite expensive for what you do get but I have heard good things about their Katsu set here so thought why not give it a try.
On each tables, there is a sesame seed blend, chilli oil, chilli flakes and so on, that you can add on top of your meals as you wish.
Pork Sirloin Katsu Set, came with a bowl of steamed rice, miso soup and a side of a variety of pickles. I did find that the pickles were rather bland and sadly, no wasabi to go with it. I don't even remember if I asked the waiter or not for wasabi.
Miso soups are always a warming welcome when starting the dish or even in the middle of the dish when you're taking a break from your Katsu and rice. The Katsu was served on top of a stainless steel rack with a mountain pile of shredded cabbage. Sadly the cabbage salad did not have any sauce that came with it so we added the sauce that's on the table and made our own sauce for the salad.
The pork katsu was fried well but I did find it to be more on the thin side with thin pork meat. It wasn't the best that I've eaten but I wouldn't also say it's the worst either.
*Please note this is a delayed post and as such, the menu may have changed since my visit to the establishment.
