Port Office Dining Room - Edward St, Brisbane CBD
March 08, 2019
Situated in the convenient location of the Port Office Hotel, it wasn't a long wait until we were seated. While going through the menu, we were offered water and advised of any specials they had on the day.
We started off the night with our red wines and opted to go straight to the mains as we were quite hungry and skipping entrees or starters has never been a problem for us.
The first dish that arrived on our table was the pork I ordered. It was served with baby vegetables and fried onions. I did not realise at first that the fried onions were more of shredded instead of actual fried big ones but it was rather an interesting take on it. The pork was juicy and was hot and I did find the sauce quite strong at the start and the extra sauce on the side was probably not required to my liking. It did help with the vegetables on the side but the pork itself already had the right balance of salt and sweetness.
The sauce I was talking about that came with the dish.
The next dish, Steak served w garlic butter topped with baby herbs, fries and mushrooms. The steak was cooked as what we ordered it as, medium. Although the usual sauce I would have liked would either be the pepper or the mushroom, the garlic butter sauce complemented the steak well.
The thick cut fries were fried well, not too oily. The only downside was not having more of them to have that extra crunch on the side with the steak and the mushrooms.
Overall, the meal was a delight to start and to end with for the night.
*Please note this is a delayed post and as such, the menu may have changed since my visit to the establishment.
