JJ Royal Brasserie opened in 2013 and I did come in 2014, but had trouble locating my photos after a problem with my HD. However, finally I found it and here it is. Although it's late, I do apologize but I'm pretty sure their menu hasn't really changed as much nor has its locations. So, a little starter about JJ Royal Brasserie.. Located in Lotte Shopping Avenue aka. Ciputra World in Jakarta, managed by the Foodie Habit Group, it has caught people's eye by its elegant but playful interior. I do have a thing about mix matching too much colours and different designs, interior wise and also art wise in one room, though some people may say it is quite daring and may be seen different from the eyes of everyone.
Fu Hao Hong Kong Cuisine is located at the Meritus Hotel in Surabaya. It offers great Hong Kong dishes as well as Yum Cha. Although it may be the best in Surabaya, the restaurant gives a nice ambience and also good food but their customer service may be a bit slow.. We decided to order their Peking Duck and a few other dishes as well.
I love my Satays everytime I go to Indonesia wherever it may be. However, I do think that Surabaya has more authentic and more delicious satays. Pork Satay is one I do love, and a definite recommendation is Rosari Rumah Makan at Jl. Raya Jemur Andayani in Surabaya. A humble but local restaurant, don't dress up, just come in dressing comfortably and rock up. Do get about more than one portion that Satay because you will want more of it..
My Kopi-O located in Sutos, Surabaya offers a wide range of various dishes from Malaysian to Japanese. Although their main focus is more on the South East Asian side, they do serve a decent Japanese meal if you are ever looking for it in Sutos. The mall itself gets pretty quiet during daytime, though the restaurants do too with office workers coming in for lunch or meetings or so. However, when it reaches evening till night, this mall gets quite crowded but with its open space and sometimes live music, makes it a decent place to eat out at other than the other shopping malls around. Be aware that this mall is basically, mostly filled with restaurants and not many boutiques or such.
Everytime I go back to Surabaya, Indonesia, the one thing I have to eat is Street Food. No, not any street food, you have to be smart about it, you need to know your places or recommendations. Not all street food are yum, nor are they clean, or maybe you might not even like it, but then they might wow you and take you to places you may never have experienced. I always find that authentic and local food lies within the hearts of Street Food or those traditional restaurants, family-owned restaurants that goes way back. Of course I do enjoy other cuisines and eating in restaurants but sometimes, you just want something different, something special, something you may not come across often but always enjoy coming or eating it every now and then. I don't eat street food quite alot being in Brisbane most of the time but everytime I go back home, I always eat it may it be only twice or five times, but usually, there are a couple of Indonesian local dishes I really do miss so I try and eat once of each when I'm back.
Sushi Tei, an international sushi train outlet with its logo "A Good Deal of Sushi". It has opened outlets country wide also overseas, but what I have realized is that each of its outlets even throughout the city, is not consistent. Branches or outlets, I do expect them to have the consistency, the presentation, though their meats or seafood are sourced differently, but consistency is key.
