He took me to Pine & Bamboo in Cannon Hill the other day and I was so very excited... He's recommended this last time saying that it was the best Peking Duck he's tasted.. And yet, it was my time to find out... See, eating peking duck wasn't actually planned at first, but when I mentioned the fact that I was suddenly missing Peking Duck, he suggested to come.. and i could not reject the offer..

Waiters preparing our Peking Duck |
Firstly, Peking Duck is always done the same way everywhere... Although, the saucing and the right taste of the duck may differ as different chefs may do it differently and may use different spices... The skin cannot be dry, and it definitely has to be crispy... I haven't had peking duck for awhile, so I seemed like an excited little girl looking and smiling away as the waiter came over to the table and put on his gloves and started to carve the skin off the duck... You could smell the aroma of the duck already, so that was a good sign...
Peking Duck skin being carved infront of us |
The first step is always that the duck is served traditionally as a pancake... which involves the carved peking duck skin dressed in hoi sin sauce with spring onions and cucumber all wrapped in the pancake skin... And usually they would prepare and make you the first peking duck pancake for you...
again... carve it!! |
I enjoyed looking and watching the waiter carving the peking duck skin and having that feeling of "come to me peking duck skin"... or maybe it was just because I was too excited and was hungry...
and again... carve that skiiiin off the duck! |

The first peking duck pancake was made for us and then we would make the rest ourselves... I enjoy making the wraps myself, and couldn't stop myself from taking photos of him and the food...
First peking duck pancake prepared and made for us |
The taste of the peking duck skin felt like heaven... it melts in your mouth when you eat it, the texture of the crispy skin and the taste from the marination was absolutely definitely delicious...
These were the peking duck skin that were carved for us... It was alot I reckon, especially just for the two of us... But see, if you're in the company of a loved one and good food, then it doesn't really matter if it's big or small, what matters is simply the enjoyment of eating it... So the next thing we know, the peking duck skin was nearly gone... and I was kind of upset as I actually wanted more... and thinking about it, this was just the first course of the meal... But I do have to say, the peking duck skin carvings were quite big in size for some of them... some could've been carved halved the size they were firstly carved...look at all of these peking duck skin... crispy... melts in your mouth... |
