Jo-Jo's, Queen Street Mall, Brisbane CBD, Brisbane
April 12, 2012
Jo-Jo's, the balcony restaurant in the heart of Queen Street Mall .. From Meditteranean food to steaks and salads to asian dishes and alcohol.. busy at night, lunch is not too bad.. but just in case, book your tables on friday and saturday nights..
The Menu ..
Self-Serve chopped peanuts ..
Ye, it was quite random how there were self-served peanuts .. maybe it was for the asian dishes and probably people wanted to add extra nuts on top?
The Caesar Salad ..
Good portion .. good amount of bacon, croutons, shaved parmesan cheese and cos lettuce.. though i did find a few cos lettuce that didn't look as good, but overall was good~
Bacon were the diced ones, and the croutons did not have any flavourings.. sauce was alright, but it would have been better if there were a little bit more sauce..
Chips with Aioli sauce .. Calzone.. You can choose any of the combinations and can choose for it to be made as a pizza or a calzone..
We've tried the pizzas here before so we decided to try their calzone.. For those who don't know what a 'Calzone' is, it is a folded italian pizza... which looks like a semi circle, or maybe a very big dumpling..
The edges and sides of a calzone is usually shaped like this, in order to seal all the meat and juices inside..
The combination chosen today was the 'Mediterranean Pizza' which consisted of mushrooms, olives, capsicum, feta cheese, sun dried tomatoes, mozarella and fresh basil ..
I have to admit, it was not the best calzone I have eaten but it was not too bad..
I know it might be simple .. but this might've been my favourite pizza .. the 'Pumpkin Pizza'..
Roast Pumpkin, Mozarella, Fresh Tomato, Spanish Onion and Kalamata Olives was what was on top of the pizza .. the size and amount of pumpking was alright, as they weren't as selfish as some places may just have only a few pumpkin slices on the pizza..
Second Pizza ordered was the 'Prosciutto and Bocconcini' ..I am a fan of 1. Prosciutto and 2. Bocconcini .. so we thought, why not? =P
Prosciutto, Bocconcini, Cherry Tomatoes and Caramelised Onion .. The pizza was not too complicated nor was it too simple, with the mixture of different elements, it somehow made a pizza delicious ..
For some reason, I couldn't find this dish on the menu .. but from what I remembered, it was salmon and salad in a turkish bread..
It was nothing special and I would've preferred it if there were less salad and more of the meaty sides..
