On a rainy day or i may say a very heavy rainy day where the roads nearly became flooded with rain and traffic is everywhere which makes it annoying at night to drive around in, a warm or hot food is all you need and of course lovely company.... I haven't been here before and so tonight was the night that I finally did try Sunny Seoul BBQ in Sunnybank on Mains Rd..
Sunday afternoon after church coming here to have our last lunch together before he leaves.. Feel so sad, but good food made it better and him of course... Felt like eating here and so ordered basically I think the exact same thing that we ordered the last time we did come here... Please do realise that some of the dishes here in Little Singapore in Market Square may vary and may be different than the Little Singapore in the CBD...
Feeling as if I've been eating Yum Cha numerous times these days, and maybe even in the same place more than a few times already... And it's usually generally similar dishes being picked out of the bunch... Beijng House, located in Queen Street Mall, next to this dogy underground karaoke, internet cafe and women clothing shops... Though the entrance may be walked past by many, some do tend to realise that there is a chinese restaurant upstairs..
It's been awhile since I've eaten at Maru and one afternoon, decided to come here to have some random catch up with friends.. Weren't that hungry so we just ordered two dishes... I still remember the times where I used to go to Maru frequently but not much now anymore... Though I think that this is maybe one of the best Korean restaurants located in the Brisbane CBD...
Trying Le Bon Choix in Ascot, Hamilton area and is located in the corner of the street where I call the Hamilton-Food-street... the street is basically filled with various bakeries, cafes and restaurants... On the way to Portside Wharf in Hamilton, it would be lovely to drive through this street... Though I do find the parking quite a hassle, but hey, if it's for food, you'll have to find a way...
Taro Balls Tofu Pudding |
Having hearing the buzz around this new dessert place, I should have tried it when it opened or maybe near the time it did.. But unfortunately not.. tried it abit late instead.. Ah well... Located inside the Sunnybank Plaza next to the Viet restaurant and the butchery...
Aspley Oriental may just be the only northside chinese restaurant that has good Yum Cha.. Other than here, I guess, I would probably recommend southside for all the Yum Chas you want in as many various restaurants you would like to try...
This place has been long overdue for a blog post... Came here one day when I was going to go to DFO to do some random shopping... Had breakfast or maybe you could call it brunch... Was trying to look for a German bakery around but it's pretty hard to find a European bakery I reckon... Baker's Club is located inside The Village Market, infront of DFO, where Woolies are at...
Korean BBQ in Sunnybank? I usually do just go to my usual Korean BBQ restaurants in the Brisbane CBD... But tonight was BBQing at sunnybank.. This is basically next to the Sunnybank plaza... Though it does say 'Robertson' (i'm actually not too sure why, but it was stated on the website, so I'll just follow it)...
Had Yum Cha at Landmark in Sunnybank plaza for lunch... Haven't had Yum Cha here for awhile, so decided to come here.. Place is quite massive when compared to the other chinese restaurants and is usually seen to be booked for wedding receptions and such... Some have said that this is the best Yum Cha in Brisbane, while others may disagree.. Everyone are entitled to their opinions so, I guess you'll just have to try to find out...
Almond Croissant |
the side of Tres Choc Pudding |
Funnyfunny Korean Bar & Restaurant ... A Korean restaurant located in George St in the Brisbane CBD... The restaurant is on the same street as Nudo's on Mary, Shabu House and Hanwoori ...
Nasi Lemak |
A restaurant where people tend to go when they miss their South East Asian roots... That's how some people I know feel like and ends up here when they start craving for those typical traditional asian dishes they once usually eat when they're in asia... Little Singapore is located in either the Brisbane CBD or in Market Square in Sunnybank...
Salmon Sashimi from Cafe PP (Cafe Petit Paradis) in Margaret St ... I didn't think it would be this much and the cutting of it was pretty thick .. not as thin as I expected it to be .. And plus, sashimi is always ever so wonderful and delicious ... so i thoroughly enjoyed it wholey =)
Strawberry Bizcocho |
Himawari Roll |
Chocolate Macadamia Mousse & Creme Brulee Centre |
Since someone haven't been to Le Bon Choix CBD and neither have I (only have tried the one in Ascot/Hamilton), I recommended this French bakery for an arvo coffee dessert time while we were in the CBD...
John Dory, rataouille, eggplant puree and fried basil |
Gnocchi Prosciutto e Funghi |
Portside Wharf on the Hamilton Harbour may be known as for their desirable place to live in, the apartments and the view of Brisbane river.. Also for their boutiques to shop, the cinema and of course, the restaurants that surrounds it... Chez Laila is one of the restaurants located in Portside Wharf, near where the cinemas are and the river...
After a Japanese dinner we had near Tenerifee, I had recommended and wanted to go to Passione Gelateria & Dessert Bar in Teneriffe.. I remember this little Gelateria and Dessert Bar when I went to Teneriffe Festival last year with a few mates of mine.. And while we were enjoying the drinks and looking around and watching the entertainment, I had a chance to try their waffles, and since then, I may say that I love their waffles...But since then, I haven't had the chance to come back again, and now, I finally have...
MIZU Platter |
Received a recommendation from someone of this Japanese restaurant down in Teneriffe, not far from the Brisbane River.. Went here for dinner one night, and it was quite busy and got busier as the time got later... I have heard that their breakfast here were basically like traditional Japanese breakfast, maybe some fusionised westernly... Though a little restaurant that doesn't look like much, located under an apartment or so, many has said that this restaurant is definitely a have-to-go for Japanese food..
Lamb Medallion w/ Port Wine Sauce |
Went to Jimmy's on The Mall for dinner on a Friday night... Had a few choices amongst the Queen Street Mall's restaurants but chose Jimmy's in the end... This dinner made me go from :( to :) ... Before the meal, I was pretty down about something but after the beers came and then the food, my facial features changed...
Chicken Karaage Obento Box |
Met up with a friend for lunch after all of my classes had finished for the day... Went to Himawari for lunch, seeing that my friend was also a regular there... Haven't been to Himawari for a very long time.. Can't even remember the last time I stepped foot here..
Prawn Green Curry |
Actually wanted to go to sushi train for dinner, but due to the waiting time so we drove back and decided to give this a try.. Used to be located in Aspley in a Caravan Complex area as their main restaurant but now have moved here to Clock Corner which is a mini shopping complex next to a train station...
Heavenly-Melt-in-your-mouth Peking Duck Skin |
He took me to Pine & Bamboo in Cannon Hill the other day and I was so very excited... He's recommended this last time saying that it was the best Peking Duck he's tasted.. And yet, it was my time to find out... See, eating peking duck wasn't actually planned at first, but when I mentioned the fact that I was suddenly missing Peking Duck, he suggested to come.. and i could not reject the offer..
Cheese Chicken & Wings (no wings in this photo) |
It seems as if these days I've just been stuck in uni studying and at home... So, another catch-up session was made.. and it was between Maru and Wara Wara Izakaya, and the decision was made and Wara Wara it was... Located basically right next to each other on Elizabeth St in Brisbane CBD... Wara Wara Izakaya is probably the newest korean restaurant that I know of in Brisbane CBD at the moment... The owner is the same owner as Koogi Hair, also in the CBD..
Newly refurbished reconstructed Wintergarden in the Brisbane CBD has the feeling of a garden.. with the butterflies and flowers imprinted mostly everywhere I go around the corner... The very top level consists of the restaurants and entertainment area which were also refurbished, and do i have to say that they look much nicer and better than how it used to be... Went to Wagamama for a catch-up sesh and truthfully, my previous experience in Wagamama wasn't that good or maybe it was just my asian tongue being disturbed by the asian fusion feeling I felt when I was there... Wagamama started in London's Bloomsbury in 1992 inspired by their traditional japanese ramen bars and asian flavours... Mainly focusing on Japanese dishes, it has spread all around the world...
This blog post has been long overdue indeed with the event of the 'Pure Bier Fest 2012 Bloggers Dinner' being held on May in Bavarian Bier Cafe in Eagle Street Pier.. Finally, I have decided to post this blog now, excuse my lateness in doing so though... I have been busy and had trouble trying to locate these photos from my files.. Was invited by OCOM for a blogger's dinner on a Friday evening to launch Pure Bier Fest which goes for a month..
variety of fusion(ed) sushis |
I've been here a couple of times but never had the chance of reviewing it, so i'm doing it now.. Oishii Sushi Bar is located in a little shopping complex called Pinelands Centre... Its surroundings only has restaurants ranging from Oishii themself, a chinese restaurant next to them, a Korean BBQ restaurant upstairs and others.. It is not Japanese owned or operated Japanese restaurant, and I did end up knowing the owner and a chat with them everytime I do come by.. They're really nice owners and are very friendly.. But I do have to say, out of all the sushi restaurants I have eaten around, whether it's in southside or northside or in the city area, I would have to say that this might be the best sushi around in Brissy.. Their sushi may be fusion as I may call it as there are sushi that they do have that you wouldn't be able to find anywhere else or another word would be, unique or not typical..
Roast Pork Belly Laksa Hut |
Laksa Hut's original venue was at Toowong and that was where I tried my first Laksa in Laksa Hut and do I have to say that it was delish which made me reminisce about the good old days when I was living in Singapore when I was young.. the pork belly, oh my gooooooooooodness... weren't they crispy skinned pork belly... roasted well, asian style... Definitely worth a try for many of the international students who misses their asian dishes from their country roots and all.. or any of you who want to try Laksa and I guess, and I would have to say that this is probably the best Laksa I have eaten in Brisbane..
First encounter with Chocolateria San Churro was when I was in Melbourne.. and even then, there was only time for churros bought during that time... Surprised to hear and see that it was going to open in Southbank in Brisbane, I finally went and had another try...
Individual Hot Pot |
Top Hot Pot is in the Sunny Park shopping complex area, infront of Market Square in Sunnybank.. Next to is the Szechuan restaurant, the Pool place and that Italian restaurant... Decided to give Top Hot Pot a try seeing that it was a cold winter night and we wanted something soupy and warm...
Rainbow Cake |
Eggs Florentine |
It was Sunday morning and arrived in city pretty early, tummies were already growling so we decided to brekky it.. Cafe Mondial is in the intersection between Dymocks, Myer Centre Starbucks and the ex-Borders building.. Above the restaurant/cafe is Royal Albert Hotel....I've always just passed by it, looking at the busy cafe being filled with people eating and sipping their mugs of coffee, smelling the delicious food.. But never had the chance of trying the food nor the coffee there, and so we decided why not try breakfast here? They had a blackboard sign stating the specials both for breakfast and lunch...
Canadian French Breakfast |
Wake up sunshine and smell the fresh air... An early morning start consist of a good breakfast to start of the day.. Had breakfast at Jimmy's on the Mall which is located to the ex-Regent Cinemas in the middle of the Queen Street Mall, easily visible from the massive intersection where everyone seems to consider it their 'meeting-place'... Jimmy's on the Mall is one of the few 24/7 restaurants in the Brisbane CBD..
Wagyu Rump Steak |
Finally, the Boatshed in Regatta Hotel is finally opened.. Although not officially opened, but it is opened for some sort of trial.. But since today, it is now officially opened.. and may I say, to add with the wonderful opening of Boatshed and the newly refurbished restaurant ever since the horrid flood had ruined many many places, this dinner was LOVE-ly <3 ~~ First official date since baby and i got together.. so so so so so very happy.. =D .. i may or may not show it, but i was and i am .. <3 Oh, and may I add, that this is my 100th post for this blog, so I thought I should make it somehow special =)
Crumbed and Battered Barramundi with Chips |
Malaya Corner at Market Square in Sunnybank is always a good spot of where to go when you don't know where to go or what to eat, just come here and you'll be fine... Actually don't go here often as it's always the other restaurants in Market Square I end up eating at.. But tonight, it's here..
Wagyu Burger |
Mos Burger at Albert St in the CBD opened awhile ago, but didn't have the time or the urge to go and try it.. Mos Burger did open firstly in Sunnybank Plaza in Sunnybank and there was even a big opening for it, but even then, every time I would say that I would go and try it, the other restaurants in Sunnybank caught my eye more.. But then, one day, recently, I did end up trying Mos Burger..
Maru, a Korean Restaurant on Elizabeth Street in the Brisbane CBD... One of the new ones in the city but at the same time, there seems to be more new Korean restaurants opening up in the CBD..
Back again to Menya Mappen in Sunnybank for lunch.. May be known as a 'fast food' joint as they do serve it pretty quickly and infront of you too.. with the choice of picking your own extra sides while you queue up to pay..
"Goat's Cheese and Hummus" Lamb Burger |
Back to Grill'd Burgers in Westfield Chermside for lunch, and as usual, there is always a queue, and though not long, it was alright I guess.. Maybe even took the same amount of time to pick out which burgers to order..
BBQ Chilli Prawns |
It seems that I've done a blog post about this restaurant a few times, and maybe I should stop and not do it again, but here I am, doing another blog post about "Jo-Jo's"... Though I do come here more than a few times, the dishes I do order and critic on are different~
Multi-Coloured Xiao Long Bao |
'Taste Gallery' at Market Square in Sunnybank, I've always walked past it and looked through the glass where the chefs would be making dumplings etc, but never had the time or just maybe, no mood of trying it.. Though I have heard that they have multicoloured buns which maybe made many curious and want to try it.. I do remember the long queues and the crowd when it first opened..
Ravioli Florentina |
Sadly, after exam period, it is usually a very good time for students to have fun, to go out, to hang out, to relax.. and to which, i did the opposite as I got sick and just basically stayed in bed nearly for the whole week since the start of holidays, practically when I finished my last exam.. And so, I stayed in bed, ate, drank lots of water, ate meds and yep, slowly got better.. and then, to somehow celebrate or maybe not even celebrate.. maybe it was just a random food outing after I got better, and it was to "Fasta Pasta".. It's been awhile since I came here..
Coffee Club at Aspley for dinner again.. Didn't feel like going anywhere too far so just went here for dinner as it was easy, close and good.. and also it's been awhile since I've been here ~
Half a Dozen Fresh Oysters and Lemon on the side |
Seafood !! went here on a sunday afternoon or you might say morning or maybe it's both (middle of morning and afternoon, aka brunch)... was quite busy when we arrived but didn't take that long until we got served..
Chilli Fish Fillet with Rice |
Went to iThai for Friday night dinner to celebrate my post-exams-celebration .. XD .. was so happy but didn't express it as much as people usually would after all of their exams are done.. heheheh.. was going to go eat some pork, but changed venues after seeing iThai and also the fact that I haven't tried the food there before, so ended up here for dinner which was gooooooooooooooood ;)
