Montezuma's in Caloundra, Sunshine Coast... I know there is actually a Montezuma's restaurant down in Gympie Road actually in Kedron but I haven't actually gone there before seeing the lack of enthusiasm or wantingness to go to a Mexican restaurant up in northside in Brisbane.. don't know why..
Anyway, went down to sunshine coast for a drive with a friend and beaching around and that, and was going to go back to Brisbane but then the time was nearly 5ish so we thought that there would be heavy traffic, and at the same time came across Montezuma's which somehow made my friend had the urge of mexican food..

Seen a long queue lately around a corner down at the valley..? well, it's not only for clubs nowadays, since this little cute Japanese restaurant bar opened up recently.. it's not your typical Japanese restaurant where you could easily order curry or udon and such.. But instead, it's all about their Dumplings and Beer... "Harajuku Gyoza" literally means 'Harajuku', a hip disctrict in Tokyo where females are usually seen with fun, visual kei, ridiculous, gothic lolita, fashion all inspired by the anime and games world, and as for 'Gyoza', it's the Japanese word for dumpling...I saw photoes around online and heard the hype bout it from friends... so I decided to give it a try one night after my long sunny hot day at the coast...
A new Japanese restaurant has just opened few months ago .. and I love its outlook seriously .. Although their menu is not long and doesn't consist of many japanese dishes like the typical japanese restaurants you may go to usually .. The problem with here is that during peak lunch times, expect the queue to be very long ... and the dishes you can buy from here are basically either soba noodles, udon noodles or rice .. it might as well be considered a fast-food restaurant ..
Located in Surfers Paradise in Lido Arcade, Orchid Ave .. This little Japanese restaurant is tucked away and it may seem small, but their variety in sushi and food dishes are alot ... Owned by Japanese and cooked by Japanese... Even the restaurant itself gives that Japanese street stall feeling .. At first, we were going to go to this other japanese restaurant but we found out it was either too far or it closed at the time, so we walked around and found this place and gave it a try ..
Cafe La Vie, a restaurant located outside of Westfield Chermside in the old Chermside area .. the entrance where the food court leading towards the cinemas are .. Owned by the same owner as Cafe di Luna in Sunnybank from what I have heard ... They have lunch specials everyday and steak nights ..
Max Brenner in Southbank.. Their motto "Chocolate by the Bald Man".. This is definitely worth a try if you are a chocolate fanatic =) or just a chocoholic I may say.. The photo above is the called 'Tutti-Frutti Waffle' which includes Warm Belgian Waffle drizzled with pure melted chocolate, served with Ice-Cream (Vanilla or Chocolate), Fresh Strawberries and Bananas. You could also add extras like marshmallows, Strawberry, Whipped Cream, Banana, Chocolate lick or Ice-Cream..
At first I thought, japanese ramen was only available in the city as in sunnybank most of the restaurants were chinese .. well, Hakataya Ramen opened its first store in Sunnybank but the one I went to for my first time trying during the mid-semester holidays was the one in Surfers Paradise. They specialise in the 'Tonkotsu soup'. They use Australian Pork and the best thing about ramen is the 'char-siu' which is seasoned pork slices .. the best, softest, melt-in-your-mouth piece of pork other than pork belly =)
Freestyle Tout is a Brisbane's iconic dessert restaurant... there's actually not many dessert restaurants here in Brisbane.. so a lot of people come here for the desserts .. if not, they just go to like other restaurants that also sells desserts ..
From what I remember, this was the Traditional Bread and Butter Pudding .. it was seriously ... sweet .. hahahh..
From what I remember, this was the Traditional Bread and Butter Pudding .. it was seriously ... sweet .. hahahh..
Shabu House on Mary St, next to the Korean Restaurant "Hanwoori" ... Before this shabu shabu restaurant opened, I remembered it was a club... and even if it still had the korean restaurant next to it, they recently had a construction, new owner and that apparently ... Shabu House seemed liked a new place to try out in the Brisbane CBD, so I tried and have came back a few times already XD
This is what they called a "Tsunami" .. You can have a choice of Beer & Soju or Sake & Soju & Beer or Whisky & Beer or Soju & Whisky & Beer or everything, which involves Soju & Whisky & Sake & Beer ..
Fox Hotel is at Melbourne St near where the Cultural Centre bus station is at .. just walk down straight and you'll find it there.. Was walking around South Brisbane one evening with a few mates and thought why not just eat at the Fox Hotel..
"San Kai" , a japanese restaurant located in Southbank ... I've eaten here before for dinner, but just yesterday I tried their takeaway .. This dish is called 'Gyudon', which means "Gyu" as is beef and "Don" from "Donburi" which is food on top of rice.. So basically, this is beef with onions simmered in a mildly sweet sauce with shallots and radish served on top of rice .. However, I prefer it if it had abit more sauce ..
Denim Co. at Little Stanley St in Southbank ... A little cafe at the corner .. had blue coloured umbrellas with people simply sipping coffees and eating ... the style of the cafe reminded me of those street stalls in asia.. This photo is the Italian Hot Chocolate, seeing by the texture of the hot chocolate, it's really THICK ... and it definitely was thick ..
Went here for a friend's dinner party ... Located in the heart of Fortitude Valley, and surrounded by other chinese, japanese, vietnamese restaurants ... It was really quiet, barely anyone inside when we came in... although, after we came in, there was another birthday party held there .. so it got pretty noisy and that .. And as you can tell by the name, "Chingu" ... I guess it's another Japanese restaurant owned by a Korean owner... "Chingu" means "friend" in korean by the way ..
On a friday night, my friends and I would randomly try out some new restaurants or if not, the same same thing .. but during this night, one of my friend suggested we go try a Perusian restaurant .. well, actually we had other thoughts on going somewhere else, but then walked past this restaurant and thought, why not give it a try? It was packed the last time we walked past it, so it shouldn't be too bad ...
The Three Monkeys over at West end at night .. A good place to chill, hang, chat, while eating cakes or any nibbles available and sipping warm hot chocolate or coffee .. or even an iced drink..
Heard there was a chinese restaurant near the Southbank Cinemas, so decided to give it a try ... "Bamboo Basket" .. I've walked past it a few times but never had the urge to go in and give it a try .. so finally I did ...
Sate Kelapa ... Coconut Satay .. Satay coated with shredded coconut and soy sauce and shredded coconuts on the side ...
The Bratwurst Shop + American Doughnut Kitchen, Queen Victoria Market, Melbourne
American Doughnut Kitchen October 24, 2011
In Queen Victoria Markets ... What a better way to start the day, eating German Sausage for Breakfast hahahh..
Yamato Japanese Restaurant, a small Japanese restaurant tucked away in the lanes of Chinatown Melbourne .. Corrs Lane, a lane with only a few restaurants including an Indian restaurant, a chinese restaurant, a bar and nothing much basically ... Wasn't going to eat here as we had another Japanese restaurant in mind, but when after having the troubles of walking around at night and trying to find it, we found out that it was also in an alleyway and had heavy black steel door which blended its colour with the walls as well .. and another thing, it was fully booked ... So, we ended up going back to Chinatown and trying it out .. Even if we had to wait due to the place being packed as well ..
The photo above is an Arancini Ball with Tuna filling ...
Mambo Italia in QV Square in Melbourne .. Pizzas and Pasta shop in Urban Market ... Was abit hungry so some of my friends and I were like trying to find snacks to eat, then I came across these big Arancini Balls which I thought were just big croquettes ...
Located under Cathedral Place in Fortitude Valley .. Surrounded by other shops and is basically in the heart or near the heart of Chinatown ...
I did see a 'Dome Coffees" in Brisbane, however I haven't given it a try .. so maybe one day I will... Compare it to the one in Indonesia ... So this top photo is Caesar Salad with Salmon ... The portion was just enough I think, it wasn't too much or too little .. maybe a little bit more dressing would have been nice .. But i like the mixture of raw salmon, lettuce, olives, croutons and bacon .. maybe it's because I like vegetables and I like sashimi ... hahahh ... cheese is also in it, as no salad would be complete without its cheese ..
From what I remember, this was an Ice Lemon Tea .. Ice Lemon Teas in Asia are truly the best ... oh, and at the corner of the photo, you can see like a glimpse of Indonesian snacks .. =) handmade and got given to me, but sadly it was finished before I could bring it home =( so sad ...
I forgot the name of this sushi .. but all I know that the outer layer was deep fried .. the nori (seaweed) was deepfried with breadcrumbs .. the inside is colourful XP
Gelare ... But not in Brisbane, Australia .. but in Surabaya, Indonesia .. down in Galaxy Mall .. I first knew about Gelare coz of Indonesia ... hmmm .. then suddenly had the urge to try the one down in Aussie :)
This ought to be my favourite out of all of the sushi I ate during my visit in Hachi Hachi Bistro this time .. sadly I forgot the name .. but what I know is that they deep fried the sushi .. so the inside is like normal sushi just the outer layer is fried ..
Pepper Rice with Salmon ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Pepper Lunch" is a Do It Yourself fast food steakhouse from Japan .. It has its own personalised iron plate with their logo stamped on it.. the food is basically raw, well the meat is anyway and then when you get it, you cook it yourself .. The rice is Peppered rice .. and the meat includes choices varying from Beef, Curry Chicken, Salmon, Eel and more .. They also have different types of steak meats such as Wagyu Diced Cut, Double Salmon, Hamburger, 'Tokusen' Rib Eye, 'Hitokuchi' Cut etc...
International Cakes down at Lonsdale St is not something you ought to miss ... you should go in and just have a look .. even just having a little peep will make you go and at least try something .. hahah.. i mean, i was with a few friends who just came from Brisbane and was waiting for more people coming coz they were on different flights .. and we ended up coming here, but at the same time, we were gonna have lunch after... so we couldn't eat as much as we wanted to .. so we just tried two cakes ..
Walking around yet again through Melbourne CBD .. taking photoes and sightseeing... I didn't know where to eat... I first actually went to a Korean restaurant but then changed my mind and suddenly missed home food.. And so, I left the restaurant and walked around again ... and then somehow my feet dragged me to QV Square..And this was where I saw "Old Town Kopitiam Mamak" .. An Authentic Malaysian Cuisine .. And even though I am not Malaysian ... But my Indonesian roots has some kind of connection with Malaysian food .. And South East Asians hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm the food is to die for XP ..
Down in Swanston St in Melbourne, I saw a cute looking Japanese Restaurant called 'Yoyogi' .. It was already 9pm and my belly was already grumbling and yelling asking me to feed it .. So as I walked around Melbourne, I was thinking of what food I should eat .. and what I felt like eating .. First I thought of something Italian, but then came across this Japanese restaurant and thought, Why not give it a try?
I ordered the Nabeyaki Udon .. It has snow peas, half-boiled egg which is definitely my favourite, shallots~~ And on the side, it was prawn tempura, fish tempura and vegetable tempura which was pumpkin and from what I remember was either zucchini or something like that ...
Lygon St Baby .. The street filled with Italian wonders and delicious food smell .. Busy throughout the day and busy throughout the night .. I walked from one end of Lygon St to the other end, and again but on the opposite side of the street ... It was lunch time and I told myself to definitely stop by somewhere and try one of these Italian restaurants .. There were a few choices in my mind but this cafe caught my eye, due to the fact they had Ferrari posters everywhere and a real Ferrari on their ceiling ... So why not? I like F1 .. why not try it anyway ..?
The Cube Hot Pot is in Sunnybank.. just at the back of Sunnybank Plaza .. where Sunnybank Oriental, The Little Cube, Vietnam Corner, Lai Lai Restaurant and other ones are .. and it's got the carpark infront of it .. but it also has a pathway that leads it through the pathway next to the main road ... anyway ... Went here for a friend's birthday dinner shindig thing ... and we ordered the two different types of hot pot soup base incase not everyone could stand the hotness .. but it wasn't as expensive as I thought it would be ... And choosing the hotpot and the food we wanted was pretty alright as well .. but the choosing part seemed like a checklist.. because the menu was basically all the different food we could pick and we would write how many portions we wanted ... Price of each different ingredients was just around $2-$4ish or something .. so it wasn't too bad ...
I didn't realise that there actually was a German restaurant in Brisbane.. but I finally found it... Came here the other night with a few friends of mine and it was full .. First time was a fail due to one of my friend wearing thongs on the night we came, so we ended up going somewhere else for dinner, but the second time, this time, it was good ... was abit hard to find a seat though but we managed and finally found a table for the four of us ..
Pho Vietnamese Noodles .. Combination noodles with everything in it ... i think i usually get everything except pig's blood and sausage~`kihihihhh.... bean sprouts... mint.... hoisin sauce.. lemon... oh you make me go all noodley~~~
The Pizza Caffe in UQ definitely has good pizza to snack on or eat during uni breaks or if you're just chillling with a friend and want to share some food .. The pizza in the photo above is "Giannini" ..
Polonia, is a Polish Club over at Milton and has a Polish restaurant and a friend of mine recommended to go there, so we went as a group.. The place as a first impression, I didn't think it was a restaurant feeling as it was just a normal building at the front.. but we did come at night, so it was dark everywhere.. However, the inside was just average, just wooden seats and tables everywhere and there was a cupboard full of polish stuff in it..
Bishamon Restaurant in Spring Hill ... First attempt trying to dine here failed due to the business and the fully booked.. maybe it was because me and my friends tried coming here on a Friday Night ... but second attempt succeeded .. and Here I am :) First thing was choosing what to eat .. and ended up just choosing the Shabu Shabu .. Just be simple, and we weren't THAT hungry ... although they tried offering us to get the Shabu Shabu Buffet because the price was just a few dollars more expensive than the normal one .. but maybe next time ...
